HERspectives - an after-school program for Enrichment of Future STEMinists

Program Description

HERspectives is an after-school program for women-identifying high schoolers where you'll meet trailblazing women in STEM and launch advocacy projects.

When:  September to December 2023,

Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

From October to December 2023, the Association for Women in Science - North Carolina is running a FREE in-person biweekly mentorship program for high school girls in which participants will engage in courageous conversation with women in STEM of the challenges distinct to women and how these speakers have shattered the stigmas that have silenced their struggles; each meeting will feature a different woman speaker. Girls will also launch advocacy projects to empower themselves and their peers to be voices for change. We meet biweekly on Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Chapel Hill Community Center, and our meeting dates are as follows:

   1. September 14
    2. September 28

3. October 12
4. October 26
5. November 2
  6. November 16
  7. November 30
8. December 7

The ultimate mission of this program is to provide a safe community where girls can strengthen the skills they need to succeed in STEM by hearing how other women have conquered challenges, as well as collaborate with fellow changemakers to make their mark in STEM.
